Lidoran Roofing was contacted concerning the 17,000 m2 asbestos roof. Our roofing company policy was that it would be good work practice to remove the asbestos roof, even though there were no immediate OHS issues.
One of the major concerns of the project was the enormous size of the roof and minimizing any potential loss of income while the building was closed for the duration of the project. A solution was needed to be able to achieve the roof replacement in the given time frame of 3 weeks-the Christmas shutdown period.
At first what seemed a daunting task, due to the extremely tight time frame, the Lidoran team started planning. In all it took 6 months to organize the logistics for the project. The works started just before Christmas 2007 and the main asbestos roof replacement works were carried out in a staggering 13 working days, well ahead of the allotted time frame. By getting the main part of the roof completed, factory production could continue as usual in the New Year allowing Lidoran to finish off the finer details of the project whilst the staff worked.
