Tamworth Regional Airport

Hanger 1 Roof Replacement

  • LOCATION

    Tamworth, NSW

  • Completion Time

    8 days

When Tamworth Airport was in need of a new roof for one of their hangers they did what all good local governments do & went to tender.

Lidoran has two mottos that can be printed 'Have nail bag will travel' & 'The can do guys'

So a five-hour drive to try our luck in the open tender arena was all in a day's work for Nigel Cole our Estimator.

This was a project that required a lot of organisation, as is always the case for out of town jobs, so Mick Bunting (Production Manager) was soon onsite with Jono Williams (WHS) & myself. This was a very public site with all eyes on us, so attention to detail & safety was paramount. i.e. the crane, while we are all for safety, I couldn't see how a plane could fly into the boom but this was a major planning point. Add to that Qantas had a large plane inside the hanger undergoing a full re-fit so moving it was out of the question.

SOLUTION = ROOF OVER ROOF

New insulation, box gutters, rain water heads & downpipes were all part of the scope. So eight days after landing gear the job was completed & a very happy client & not one leak even after our latest wet weather.

Well done to the boys that worked with me, over-coming very hot February days, with lots of hydration required both at work & after as is the way when on tour.

Another great effort from the Lidoran Team!
